General Information

Reading - Reading is a vital part of your child's education and all children have the opportunity to read at school and at home. All children have a reading record which gives you the name of their reading book and allows you to sign when your child has read. Please read as regular as you can with your child to support them in becoming fluent readers and sign when they have read so they can change their reading book.

Homework - Homework is given out on a Wednesday and due in the following Monday. Homework consists of; handwriting practice, spellings, times tables practice (2, 5, 10 times tables) and a Phonics activity.

P.E - P.E is on a Tuesday afternoon, however if possible your child can bring their P.E kit on a Monday and take it home on a Friday, in case of the need to change P.E slots.

Phonics - All children in Year 1 will take a Phonics screening check. The Phonics screening check is a government test to assess how well your child can decode and read words. The Phonics screening check will take place during the week commencing Monday 11th June 2018.
