HOW THE PARISH FAMILY CELEBRATES
During the Celebrating topic we have been discovering what a celebration is and how people celebrate. The children shared memories of the celebrations they have had. They talked about their own experiences and feelings about celebrations they have been part of and how the celebration was shared.
During our Reveal section we were looking at the pictures of our parish The Sacred Heart Church and talked about the priest, the beautiful altar, the baptismal font and stained glass windows. The children gained a new found knowledge and understanding of what celebration is and how the parish family celebrate.
"JESUS IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD"
Our first memory verse on the session was John 8:12,
“Jesus said, ‘I am the light of the world.
Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness,
but will have the light of life.”
We observed the candle's light and in a short discussion session, explored the symbolism of the candle. 'The bringing of light where there is darkness; light as a symbol of hope and goodness.'
We talked about how Jesus came into the world as a baby so that He could save us. He is our light. When we’re having trouble, lonely, scared or when we did something wrong, Jesus is the light to help us. If we don’t have Jesus, it’s hard to live the way we’re supposed to. In the darkness we couldn't laugh, we would be just lost and confused. Because Jesus is our light, we can laugh and have joy inside all the time.
We learnt about how Jesus is the Light of the World and how we all have a little light inside of ourselves.
We also made our own candles to spread the joy.
