At St. Francis Xavier, we have a responsibility to ensure all our pupils have a healthy lifestyle, body and most importantly mind. By caring for the whole child our aim is for all children to feel happy, safe and confident in school. We work hard to promote positive mental health and wellbeing to ensure all pupils are able to cope with changes, emotions and situations in their lives that they may find challenging. We understand that all the children will face some difficulties throughout their lives and we aim to support them in managing these appropriately and with confidence.
Evidence suggests that there are five steps we can all take to improve our wellbeing:
What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is a fundamental part of human consciousness. One way to improve our wellbeing is through the practise of mindfulness. It can be easy to rush through life without stopping to notice much. Paying more attention to the present moment- to your own thoughts and feelings, and the world around you- can improve your mental wellbeing.
This awareness is often referred to as 'mindfulness'.
As a school, we promote mindfulness throughout our curriculum and by practise mindfulness in order to help children enjoy their time and understand themselves better. This icludes techniques that allow children to develop the resilience to cope with whatever life throws at them and to love and grow enjoying each day.
